Sports & Activities
Since Santorini is an island, it's only natural that the majority of the sports and activities here are related to the sea. One of the most popular ones is scuba diving and snorkeling. The island's sea bottom is one of the most interesting in the world, with waters offering good visibility and spectacular submarine landscapes, especially on the south side.
At the organized beaches of the island, like Perissa, Perivolos and Kamari, there are dive schools offering lessons and equipment for both beginners and experienced divers, as well as cater for snorkelers. At those popular beaches you'll also find water sport centers where you can indulge in jet skiing, water skiing, wake boarding, parasailing, canoeing, windsurfing, sea kayaking and practically any water sport you can imagine. While you enjoy the beautiful waters at Perissa, Perivolos, Kamari and Monolithosbeaches, look for the designated beach- volley fields, where you can join other players or arrange your own game with friends.
Another popular activity in Santorini is fishing, especially at the White Beach, which is only accessible by boat , so you'll have to rent one if you prefer to choose that.
Fun water experiences and lots of family and children activities can be enjoyed at the wonderfully organized Water Park in Perissa, with three water slides, three swimming pools, two children's slides and a children's special swimming pool, complete with a cafe and a restaurant.
For hiking lovers, Santorini offers numerous wonderful walks at the streets and cobbled alleys within and around the picturesque villages, while the longer distances along the caldera brow will leave you more than impressed (classic routes are Fira-Firostefani-Imerovigli and Imerovigli-Oia). Horse-back riding, or alternatively, donkey-back riding is another popular outdoor activity here, as well as an excellent opportunity to explore the island's inland charms.>
